NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 10 – President Uhuru Kenyatta is in India and is expected to meet the executives of Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Tata Motors and Infosys, where he will drum up support for Kenya as an attractive destination for Indian investors.
Tata is the largest manufacturer in Indian Automotive Industry while Infosys is a global leader in Technology services and consulting.
President Kenyatta will also hold bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee among other top Indian Government officials.
The main areas of the bilateral talks will include collaboration in trade, healthcare, manufacturing, security and Information, Communication and Techonology.
The visit comes after the Indian Prime Minister visited Kenya in July last year where several agreements were signed between the countries including Sh1.5 billion Line of Credit Agreement to IDB Capital Limited for development of small and medium enterprises and the Sh3 billion agreement to upgrade the Rift Valley Textiles (Rivatex) factory.
While in his two-day state visit in India, President Kenyatta will attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit as the guest of honor.
The forum, which will focus on Sustainable Economic and Social Development, brings together heads of states and governments, ministers, leaders from the corporate world, senior policy makers, heads of international institutions and academia from around the world to further the cause of development and to promote cooperation.
