CMHI Jinling and CMHI-Jiangsu were each contracted to build two LNG dual-fuel 9,400-ceu vessels
Chinese vehicle maker BYD appears to be wasting no time in building up a fleet of pure car/truck carriers (PCTCs).
The Shenzhen-headquartered automaker, which made its debut in the niche segment last month by ordering two LNG dual-fuel PCTC newbuildings, is now said to have signed up for four bigger vessels at domestic shipyards.
Shipbuilding sources following the market said BYD has contracted two shipyards under the China Merchants Industry Holdings to build the carriers.
