Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) chairman Wangai Ndirangu could be kicked out of office for holding two public jobs against the Ethics Act.
Ndirangu, a lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), was appointed KeNHA chair by President Uhuru Kenyatta following his recommendation by Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.
JKUAT is a state-owned institution, and as such, his position as a civil engineer lecturer makes him a public officer.

According to the Roads Act, the chair of KeNHA must not be a public officer meaning Ndirangu's appointment breached the law.

A Kenyan named George Ballo asked Macharia to revoke Ndirangu's appointment within seven days, failure to which he shall move to High Court to challenge it.

In a related story reported by TUKO.co.ke, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani's wife Gumato Yatani was appointed to two state jobs.
Gumato was named by Education CS George Magoha to be the chairperson of the JKUAT council and also in the task force formed by the Ministry of Trade tasked with reviewing the quality and standards of infrastructure.
In a gazette notice dated November Friday, November 8, 2019, Gumato was nominated by CS Magoha to chair the JKUAT council for three years.
Former Trade and Industry CS Peter Munya also appointed Gumato and 13 others as task force members to evaluate the management of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs).
