Uber and Bolt taxi drivers are on a go slow after the firms failed to implement the 18% commission cap.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) put the ceiling on the commission charged by operators to drivers per trip.
The regulations were to take effect from Thursday, September 22, but Uber filed a petition challenging the implementation.
According to The East African, the firm said the move will restrict flexibility on its revenue model and affect negotiations on the best commission to drivers.

The organisation of Online Taxi Drivers and Digital Taxi Association of Kenya chairman Zachariah Mwangi urged Uber and Bolt to honour the regulations.
Mwangi noted that the charges per ride have remained the same despite the increase in fuel prices.
Currently, Uber charges a 25% commission per ride, Bolt charges 20%, and Little taxi charges 15%.

In July 2022, Uber reviewed its minimum fare, increasing the minimum charge for the Uber Chap Chap option by KSh 10.
Uber Chap Chap minimum prices increased to KSh 160, up from KSh 150 in the previous months.

A common lament by drivers at the app-summoned ride platform has been that they have to accept a request before learning where trips will take them, or how profitable they will be.
