Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) has urged motorists using Raila Odinga Way (formerly Mbagathi Way) to find alternative routes until Monday midnight.
The authority on Friday, November 5, said it would close the section of the road to allow for the construction of a footbridge around the T-Mall roundabout.
The planned construction will see normal traffic flow on the road disrupted for two days from midnight on Saturday, November 6 to midnight on Monday, November 8.

KeNHA explained that the intended construction work is designed to take place in two phases, where appropriate directions will be provided for motorists using the highway.
The Nairobi county government renamed Mbagathi Way to Raila Odinga Way in honour of the Orange Democratic Movement leader.
While introducing a motion to pave the way for the renaming of the city road, Minority Whip Peter Imwatok said deserving leaders should be recognised while they are alive, not when they die.

The former prime minister in the Grand Coalition government argued with foresight that this road would be the most cost-effective in the long run.
