NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 3 – The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has directed all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators to comply with the newly gazetted regulations which include the use of multicolour designs and decorations on their vehicles.

In a statement, NTSA Director General Francis Meja indicated that the decorations should not be painted, sprayed, drawn or affixed to any window, lights, indicators or chevrons of the vehicle.
“The NTSA hereby informs the public that following consultations with the relevant stakeholders, the guidelines on the use and application of multicolour designs and decorations on PSVs have now been incorporated into the National Transport and Safety Authority (Operation of Public Vehicles) 2014 Regulations,” he said.
He further pointed out that they should also not have reflective properties.
“All PSV operators are hereby requested to note and ensure compliance with the above regulations. A copy of the regulations can be regulations can be downloaded from the NTSA website www.ntsa.go.ke,” the Director General stated.
The laws further stipulated that the vehicles should be able to display the name of the SACCO they represent in letters which are visible from a distance of at least 275 metres.
“The name of the Sacco or company should appear in letters not less than six inches in height and in such colour as to be visible by day from a distance of at least 275 metres,” he said.
