•28 Government vehicles were involved in road crashes within the period under review.
Metropolitan counties top in the latest list released by the National Transport Authority on road accidents this year.
According to statistics released by NTSA and seen by the Star, Nairobi leads with 357  road crashes, followed by Kiambu which recorded 345 crashes, Nakuru comes in third with 268, Machakos 188 and Murang’a with 111.
This is for the period between January 1, 2022, and August 31, 2022.
Counties with the least number of accidents within the same period include Mandera with one, Isiolo follows with five, Marsabit comes in third with seven, Lamu with 9 and Tana River with 15 crashes
The authority recorded 3,202 road accidents within the period under review.
In terms of vehicles leading in the nationwide road accidents, Motorcycles were in the lead with 821, followed by private vehicles with, 776, Commercial with 729 and Public Service Vehicles with 438.
As highlighted by NTSA, 380 unknown vehicles were involved in accidents within the period under review, Government vehicles were 28, Tricycle 18, Pedal cycle 9, Ambulance two and one hand cart got involved in a road crash
