Abdollah Tavakoli, Director-General of Vehicle Industries Office at the Iranian Ministry of Industries, announced that this cipher increased by more than 30 percent compared to November 2021, while it surpassed the great European manufacturers such as France, the United Kingdom, and Italy, in January and September.
Tavakoli stated that car output reached 750,000 units from March to November, 15 percent more, compared to the same period in 2021.
According to European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Iran produced 949,817 cars in the three quarters, until September.
It accounted for 1.9 percent of the world’s car output and positioned Iran as the tenth largest car producer above the global ranking in the same period last year.
Iran’s automobile industry thrived in recent years following a 2018 ban on importing finished cars so as to control foreign exchange spending and lessening the impact of sanctions imposed by Washington on oil exports.
