A creepy tweet by a coffin seller warning Kenyans to exercise responsible drinking this festive season has caught the attention of Kenyans with majority recommending adoption of the message by NTSA.
In the tweet, a man by the user name @Bandaafrik posted a photo chilling on a casket with the message, “Drink responsibly or you will support my business by force.”
Kenyans who responded on the tweet found the message hilarious but informative and suggested that the National Transport and Safety Authority should adopt the message for road safety sensitisation.
The best advert for all road safety agency. @ntsa_kenya you have got a brand ambassador. Kudos bro. Hustle well and stay safe.
NTSA liked the tweet and responded to it with a message for road users to desist from driving while under the influence of alcohol.
Never drink and drive,” NTSA captioned a poster with graphics warning road users against unsafe road practices.
It warned against failure to use pedestrian walkways, riding on motorcycles without helmets, using mobile phones while driving, lane indiscipline, speeding and drink-driving.
Data from NTSA shows that more than 4,000 people lost their lives as a result of road accidents in the first 11 months of 2022.
The statistics indicate that 19,285 victims were involved in the road crashes between January and November 30, 2022.
Fatalities from the crashes stood at 4,248, those seriously injured were 8,756 while the slightly injured victims were 6,281.
Road accidents are unusually high during the festive season as most people over indulge in alcohol leading to reckless driving.
