Last Thursday, more than 150 auto industry experts and high-level stakeholders joined the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) autumn reception.
Keynote speakers addressed the audience on how to ensure the automotive industry remains a key driver in Europe’s transformation to a climate-neutral economy.
“The European auto industry has always delivered! We continue to provide around 13 million skilled jobs in the EU. And we remain a reliable partner and the engine for an economically strong Europe that can assert itself globally,” stated ACEA President and CEO of BMW Group Oliver Zipse.
“A strong, globally competitive industrial base in Europe is the prerequisite for a green, digital transformation. We in the automotive industry will actively contribute to this,” Mr Zipse further added.
In the same tone, ACEA new Director General, Sigrid de Vries, reiterated that “ACEA’s Board and members, the team, me personally – all commit to act as strong partners for policy makers, society and all our stakeholders, in order to succeed in our important mission of ‘driving mobility for Europe’.”
“Our industry is transforming itself in order to help tackle climate change as fast as possible. It is a shared trajectory. All our members are united by a crystal clear cause – to keep our world mobile – in a sustainable, safe, smart and inclusive way,” de Vries concluded.
To conclude the round of keynote speeches, Walter Goetz, Head of Cabinet of Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean, stated: “The European Commission is here to support you with the adequate infrastructure that will ease the decision for citizens of buying an electric or hydrogen car or for companies buying a hydrogen-powered or electric lorry.”
