Eight people have been killed following a terrible accident along the busy Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
Confirming the incident, Nakuru West Sub County Police Commander Edwin Otieno, said the accident happened after the trailer rammed into two 14-seater matatus at Ngata bridge.

The accident which happened on Tuesday, December 13, left 10 people seriously injured.

Among those who perished included the driver of one of the matatus while the trailer driver escaped unhurt.
The police commander said the trailer which was heading to Nakuru veered off the road and collided with an oncoming matatu that was heading to Kabsabet.
The police said the Kapsabet-bound matatu lost control and in the process collided with another matatu that was heading to Bomet.
Those injured were rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital where they are currently receiving treatment.
The accident happened at the same spot where three were killed and several people, including students at the nearby Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology, in an accident on November 26, 2022.

On November 23, 2022, another grisly accident at Maili Tisa on the Eldoret-Turbo Road claimed six lives, including a minor.
The evening accident involved three vehicles; a tractor, an Isuzu Mux belonging to the Kenya Urban Roads Authority and a 14-seater matatu.
It was reported that the driver of the tractor, which had no headlights on, underestimated the speed of the matatu and attempted to join the highway.
The matatu, which was heading to Kitale from Nairobi, in turn, rammed into the tractor. The Mux, which was being driven behind the PSV, subsequently rammed into it.
Uasin Gishu police commander Ayub Gitonga said six people died on the spot including the drivers of the matatu and the Mux.
Statistics by the National Transport and Safety Authority disclosed that more than 4,000 people lost their lives in road accidents in 2022.

According to the report, most road users who lost their lives were pedestrians and motorcyclists.
The report that was released on Thursday, November 17, said 1,413 pedestrians and 1,046 motorcyclists lost their lives.
The deaths were tabulated from 18,474 recorded accidents.
