A total of 1121 cars were sold in Kenya during the month of June according to data provided by the Kenya Motor Industry Association (KMIA) with Isuzu leading in the number of most sold units during the month followed by Toyota.
During the month, Isuzu sold 401 units, beating Toyota during the month. Isuzu is one of the largest car sellers in Kenya with many Kenyans preferring its cars due to affordability, durability, and adaptability with the Kenyan rough terrain.
Last year, Family Bank and Isuzu East Africa partnered to have customers access up to 95 percent financing payable within 60 months on a 90-days repayment holiday on commercial vehicles courtesy of a partnership agreement between the two entities. The same partnership happened with the Co-operative Bank of Kenya.
In 2018, Isuzu East Africa (Isuzu EA) launched its new SUV model, the Isuzu mu-X in Nairobi. The seven-seater vehicle with an intuitive 5-speed automatic transmission became an instant hit among Kenyans targeting the urban lifestyle segment that has experienced rapid growth over the last few years.
Toyota sold 292 units during the month according to data. Mitsubishi sold 162 units. At the same time, Nissan and Mercedes sold 24 units each in June.
BEIBEN sold 7 cars, BMW 1 while Eicher sold 2. For and Hino sold 14 and 11 cars respectively. Jaguar and Land Rover sold 1 and 3 cars respectively while Mahindra sold 11.
Maruti and Mazda sold 4 and 3 cars respectively. Proton sold 5 while Scania sold 14. At the same time, Suzuki sold 11 and Tata had 82 sold. UD Trucks sold were 2.
